Pro 1 Painters is proud to serve you with all of your residential painting needs. But if you own a business, we hope to serve you with our commercial painting services as well! And our areas of expertise go beyond a new paint job. We’re prepared to help you with a variety of services to improve the structural integrity and overall appearance of your unique work space. One non-paint way we can help you is with expansion sealing in walls, flooring, and parking lots.
What is Expansion Sealing?
The purpose of an expansion joint is to allow a slab of concrete to expand or contract due to weather conditions without cracking the slab. The joints themselves are deep cuts in the concrete that go completely through to the base material. Expansion joints need to be sealed with a flexible sealant to prevent water from damaging the concrete.
How are Expansion Joints Sealed?
Before we begin, it’s important to note that this is a potentially dangerous job, and gloves and protective eyewear must be worn. All of our certified contractors are up to date with the latest rules and recommendations to make sure that they are doing the safest job possible.
First, we’ll sweep out the joints to make sure any debris is removed. Next, we thoroughly clean and rinse the area and wait for it to dry completely. If needed, our experts will apply a backer joint, and then it will be time to apply the sealant. The technique varies some depending on whether the application is horizontal or vertical. Horizontal applications are used for flooring or parking lots, while vertical applications are used for walls, such as stucco.
Why Choose Pro 1?
We know there’s a huge amount of options available when it comes to commercial painting and exterior services. You may even be tempted to try and “DIY” some of the work to save money, but this usually ends up costing more in the end! Unless you are completely familiar with all of the equipment and materials you’ll need, you risk buying the wrong thing, buying too much, or making an error that requires a professional fix. Not to mention if you’re doing these projects yourself, who is running your business? We want to keep you doing what you do best while we do what we do best.
All of our employees are excellent communicators who will work with you to find a work schedule that will interrupt your business the least. If we’re repairing expansion joints on your parking lot, for example, we’ll work at night to avoid the rush of your business hours. We don’t want to interfere with your business. We’re business owners ourselves! Our contractors are always striving to offer quality jobs within your budget and completed on time.
